A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls

A Matter of Balance is an award-winning program designed to help older adults who have experienced falls or are concerned about falling.  Fear of falling often restricts people’s activities.  We want to help change this and get you back to a more healthy, stable and active lifestyle.

During the program, you will learn how to reduce the risk of falling.  You will exercise to improve your strength, flexibility and balance, and you will set goals to increase your activity.

The classes are co-taught by a specially trained registered nurse and physical therapist.

This program is being offered in partnership with the Area Agency on Aging 1-B and Beaumont Health.

Family & Friends CPR

The Family & Friends CPR course teaches the lifesaving skills of adult Hands-Only® CPR, child CPR with breaths, adult and child Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use, infant CPR and relief of choking in an adult, child or infant. Skills are taught in a dynamic group environment by using the American Heart Association's research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which provides students with the most hands-on CPR practice time possible.

Family & Friends CPR is for people who want to learn CPR but do not need a course completion card in CPR for their job. This course is ideal for schools and students (over age 12), new parents, grandparents, babysitters and others interested in learning how to save a life.

Certification Courses also available at Beaumont

The Heartsaver AED course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet regulatory or requirements for jobs such as a coach, day care worker, teacher, scout leader or fitness instructor.

The BLS for Health Care Provider course is for health care professionals who need to know how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills, in hospital and outpatient settings. Students participate in simulated clinical scenarios and complete a written exam. The course certification card is valid for two years.

If you are uncertain about which class is appropriate for you, please call 800-633-7377 and a representative will assist you.

Please arrive 5 minutes before the class starts so that we can begin on time.  If you arrive more than 10 minutes after the class begins, we will not admit you to the classroom.  You will need to reschedule for another CPR Family & Friends session.

Online registration is currently unavailable. To register please call 800-633-7377, weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. We apologize for the inconvenience.
